The Kindersley Klippers have a long tradition of developing fine young men and helping them reach their goals both as athletes and as individuals. Below you can find an interview with one of our recent alumni Justen Close who is currently playing NCAA Division 1 hockey for the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
TEAM HISTORY
The Kindersley Junior Klippers originated as the Saskatoon Titans in 1991. In 1993, the Titans relocated to Kindersley and were renamed the Kindersley Klippers. In 1994, the team became a community owned non-profit organization and remains so today.
The early years were a financial struggle – we inherited a team deeply in debt and with a very poor performance record on the ice. Today we are proud to say that we were the Membercare Cup Champions in 2002, the Anavet Cup Champions in 2004 and runner up in the 2004 Royal Bank Cup.
This success is due in no small part to the untiring work of our volunteers and the constant financial support of our corporate sponsors. The name, Kindersley Klippers, has been synonymous with hockey in Kindersley for over fifty years. TheSenior Klipper Team has won many honours over the years and the name is well known in hockey circles.
An average game attendance of over 500 displays the fan support consistent with a vibrant hockey town.
