Klippers' offense explodes for six in Yorkton
Sunday, November 01, 2009
Andrew Dommett and Taylor Duzan each scored a pair as the Kindersley Klippers beat the Yorkton Terriers 6-2 Saturday night. There were 602 fans on hand at the Ferrell Agencies Arena for the Halloween affair but it was the Klippers who stole the show. Just 1:19 into the opening frame Andrew Dommett (Johnny Calkins) gave the Klippers the early lead when he scored on the power play to make it 1-0. Yorkton would respond on a power play of their own when Kelly Leismeister beat Josh Thorimbert to even the score at 1-1 after one. Johnny Calkins was in the box after dropping the gloves with Keon Vick. Calkins was issued 2 minutes for instigating and a 10 minute misconduct. The game remained tied until late in the second when Taylor Duzan (Kurt Leedahl, Jordan Braid) scored his first of the game at 16:47 and Calkins made amends with an unassisted marker at 18:58 to put the Klippers up 3-1 after two. Duzan (Braid, Jordon Hoffman) would add his second of the game at the 4:28 mark of the third and Andrew Dommett (Braeden Adamyk, Calkins) would score his second on the power play at 5:25 to make the score 5-1 Klippers. Yorkton would stop the bleeding temporarily with Rylan McDonell replying at 6:24. Jordon Hoffman (Taylor Duzan, Travis Eggum) would round out the scoring for the Klippers at the midway point of the third on the power play to make the final score 6-2. The Klippers went 3/5 on the power play while the Terriers were 1/3. Kindersley out shot the Terriers 36-34. Three stars: 1) Duzan 2) Calkins 3) Hoffman.
